Experience With GIS Desktop Software

GIS Desktop Software is the bedrock of how most people experience Geographic Information Systems.

A limited selection of such products are:

  • ArcGIS
  • Manifold
  • MapInfo
  • qGIS
  • FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) – not strictly a GIS but it can do most of the above.

I have experience with all of the above. If anyone wants some help, contact me, or buy some mentoring.

The number of people experiencing such software has increased with the advent of Google, Bing and Apple Maps. Some start with the large number of GPS products available for smart phones, others through smart phone based spatial apps.

But the nice thing about all this software is that it is being noticed.
